Afghanistan, Nigeria and Pakistan faces challenges such as weak health systems, polio and poor sanitation. The first polio outbreak was in United states occurred in Rutland County, Vermont. Eighteen death and 132 cases of permanent paralysis were reported. Polio is caused by the polio virus that spreads from person to person invading the brain and spinal cord and causing paralysis. Polio mostly affects children under 5 years old. Paralysis causes you not to move your body part. In polio's case you will not be able to move your feet or your arm. How polio occurs is when polio virus invades or attacks your motor neurons. Motor neurons are the nervous system cells involved in moving your body around. When motor neurons are damaged or killed then the nervous system cannot signal your muscles to move. This is what we call paralysis.
